This paper tries to analyze from the business studies’ viewpoint how the word “business management” is used in education and how the business practices such as regulation relaxation and merit-based employee performance evaluation are talked in education. Professional magazines for business people and for teachers, and the white papers on education are the main sources to analyze. It turned out that the history of “business management” in education traces back to 1910’s while the government white papers use only “management.” It is still unknown what explains this difference as well as little comment on the business practices in education. |
